Share stories of individuals or teams who are living our values Develop Culture Change Skills Organizational Learning’s Culture Change Foundations: Improving Workplace Climate guides learners on the first step in embarking on a culture change journey. The course discusses culture, climate, and how the two are interrelated. It explores levers to affect climate and provides a model to create culture change that sticks. You will benefit by gaining a better understanding of culture and climate to improve relationships with others in your workplace. Learn more and register for an upcoming session Leadership and Culture: Creating a Positive Work Environment Managers who understand organizational culture and climate can work to create an environment that is supportive, inclusive and values employees. This can lead to increased employee satisfaction, improved morale and higher levels of employee engagement. This foundational course provides managers with the tools and knowledge to lead a successful culture change journey within their team. Learn more and register for an upcoming session Access additional learning and resources Preventing Workplace Issues and Retaliation Building a Culture That Thrives: Preventing Retaliation As part of our work to reinforce the university’s commitment to preventing retaliation and protecting those who report improper behavior, it is highly recommended that faculty and staff complete a new online training module. More information and access to training Leadership and Culture: Strategies to Prevent Workplace Issues and Retaliation Leaders play an important role in helping to prevent workplace issues and wrongdoing. This course gives leaders tools and strategies to create a more welcoming and respectful work environment. Interactive discussions, case studies and role-playing exercises will enhance learning. Register for an upcoming session PAST ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES In-Person Community Forums In April 2023, faculty and staff were invited to attend one of three community forums to identify workplace behaviors to accompany the values. All of the sessions were well attended with high engagement. Our three executive vice presidents: Geoff Chatas, EVP and Chief Financial Officer, Provost Laurie McCauley and Dr. Marschall Runge, EVP for Medical Affairs, provided opening remarks. Workplace Behaviors Poll We conducted a poll to determine workplace behaviors that represent the values from 3/1 – 3/17/2023. We received 781 responses. Thank you for your participation. Third Pulse Poll Our third pulse poll ran from 10/24 – 10/28/2022. We received 2996 responses. Thank you for your participation. Second Culture Journey Community AssemblyWednesday, September 28, 2022 Community input has been key in shaping work to strengthen U-M’s workplace culture and identify a set of unifying shared values. This virtual community assembly provided updates on the university’s Culture Journey and its next steps. Featured speakers included President Mary Sue Coleman, Provost Laurie McCauley, Chief Organizational Learning Officer Sonya Jacobs and other campus partners. They shared how this work is progressing, what has been learned so far and how faculty and staff can engage in the next stage of the journey. View the presentation slide deck.
